Look who's funding Judicial Watch

By Antoinette

Conservative Judicial Watch has been in the news lately, but here’s the real question: Who is funding this controversial conservative organization? Who are they?

Judicial Watch, established in 1994, and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is comprised of “lawyers, investigators, and concerned citizens,” according to the organization. They bill themselves as a “watchdog” over our government.

They are heavily funded by the conservative Scaife Foundation which finances conservative think tanks including Media Research Center and the Heritage Foundation.

The Scaife Foundation was headed by billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife, a conservative who inherited his wealth from the Mellon industrial, oil, and banking fortune. He headed the Sarah Mellon Scaife Foundation, the Carthage Foundation and the Allegheny Foundation. All of these organizations have bankrolled conservative causes.

In 2002, Judicial Watch received $1.1 million from the Carthage Foundation and $400,000 from the Sarah Scaife Foundation. In 2001, the Scaife Foundation had given $1.35 million and Carthage $500,000.

Between 1997 and 2002, Judicial Watch received $7,069,500 in 19 grants, most of it from the Sarah Scaife Foundation, according to Source Watch.

Now here’s the interesting part.

The Scaife foundations, including those controlled by Scaife's sister, Cordelia May Scaife, provided some $1.4 million to Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) from 1986-2000. FAIR was founded by John Tanton, a Michigan activist with ties to hate groups.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit civil rights law firm that tracks hate groups nationwide, has listed FAIR as a hate group with ties to the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), a white supremacist group, founded in 1985 by Gordon Baum, an attorney and longtime white-power activist.

Judicial Watch has some explaining to do. Why are they accepting funding from foundations that bankroll hate groups?

Next time you see Judicial Watch on television, remember who funds them.

    Hi Antoinette,

I can understand you changing the direction of this website. You seem to have little awareness of what Dave went through, nor do you seem to have any idea about how the internet is rigged. This is not a putdown. It is what it is.

The bad guys are winning. You really didn't explain what you meant by saying time was up for Markos Moulitsas.

I have been able to put a lot together. Fingerit can be tied to "election integrity" fakes. He can be tied to manipulating democratic processes at not only the DailyKos but at Democratic Underground.

But since there are only a few of us who have been fighting this type of battle, the dark side has been able to frame Dave as having been obsessed and caught up in personal vendettas between anonymous usernames.

I thought at first that Dave had died of natural causes. Now I am not so sure. What I feel in my gut is that Dave was driven to an early death from not only the harrassment, but because so few people offered him emotional support and aid in working out his discoveries.

So when I read that you say time is up for Markos, I can't help but wonder what that means, if anything.

The FSZ and DailyKos are two peas in a pod. Both KosKops and FSZ mock me for being a stalker of female reporter, Larisa Alexandrovna. I know exactly what Dave was going through. You get called the worst types of names. You get unfairly driven off of major forums, when all you wanted to do was share some ideas.

You say time is up for Markos Moulitsas. What do you mean by that? It seems like you have abandoned what Dave was working on the last half year of his life. So when you say you have these options left, was that all hot air?

By ignoring this part of Dave's work, it's almost as if you are ashamed of it, which feeds into the other side's obfuscating of what really happened.

Dave was a hero. He busted up an astroturfing ring. Sure, you are doing a good job going after Hannity. But why are you neglecting this other stuff?

I haven't given up the fight. Dave gathered a lot more information about Daily Kos, than I did. I abandoned Daily Kos months ago and never looked back. Markos Moulitsas was on MSNBC with Keith Olbermann. He knows his sight wasn't not doing well, so I believe he called the network for airtime and to promote his site. Dave has told me about the Kos Kops. He's been called all sorts of names, but I told him that the truth is on his side. The Kos Kops knew Dave was on to them. Again, I don't have access to Dave's notes because he's in one state and I'm in another. That's why I call on others to continue call the Kos Kops out. Markos Moulitsas has been called out publicly which is a start.

Dave was one person battling an army while holding down two jobs. According to Alexa.com, the Daily Kos is continuing its decline, which is a good sign.

When I said time was up for Markos Moulitsas, I meant that I will go after his site by exposing the names of the Kos Kops. I can't devulge details because they will find out. You battle wars through secrecy in order to win them. I've been on the Internet since the late 1980s, so I'm very familiar on how the Internet is operated.

Dave and I both have the same goals, but we operated differently in achieving them. Dave's other battle was Hannity. I know Dave would have wanted me to continue to expose Hannity. Last week, Hannity has called Dave out, not by name, as 'Psycho' on the air when he talked about his upcoming booksigning with Levin. If Dave was alive today and heard this, he would have responded.

Quoting Obama: "I can't do it alone without your help."

Send me your articles and I will post them on the site. Also, visit www.alexa.com and type in Daily Kos to see their slide.

Thank you so much for the sincere response. I respect you very much, and it is absolutely beautiful of you to carry on the good fight. Thanks for the update and the clarification.

Myself and Abbeysbooks have joined forces. I definitely feel that you have continued providing a safe haven for peaceniks and lefty progressives. Thank you.

That is very interesting that Hannity called out Dave like that, though very cowardly of him to speak badly of someone not alive to defend himself.

Such ad hominems are proof, imho, that Dave did hit raw nerves.

I have fished around and found further proof that Fingerit also had tremendous power at Democratic Undeground and has ties to certain elements of the election integrity movement. He has been caught in lies. He never expected to be outed. That is the key. Anonymous usernames mean nothing.

I am relying on Dave as the source behind the name Fingerit. I have also caught Michael Bouldin in an outrageous moment of hypocrisy. He called out Laura Ingraham for making fun of McCain's daughter's weight. Yet, he was the one who went out of his way to make fun of Dave's weight.

We are on the winning path. I wrote the post yesterday during a down period. But every time I feel bad, the sun always rises once again for the better.

Someone needs to get through to Mr. Olbermann about how detrimental DKos is to democratic processes. As Obama realized it was a pit of negativity, hopefully sooner than later Keth figures it out also.

I can empathize with how Dave has been characterized in certain ways simply because of what he uncovered. I did the same with Brett Kimberlin and Larisa Alexandrovna's misinformation about the Speedway Bomber and with her "reporting" on the Michael Connell story.

I am being characterized as being a kooky, stalking, conspiracy theorist. I advise anyone who's thinking of posting at Free Speech Zone to realize that the people there do not want the investigation to continue or to reveal greater truths.

I believe that we need to keep hacking away at the tree of oppression through the creation of pockets of awareness.

I have the name of a freelance journalist who I spoke with for a few hours a month or two back. You have my email, and perhaps I can give you his contact address. He has written for major newspapers. This story will come out eventually.

I met Dave a few days before his death. Though that cannot match the sorrow that close friends and family like yourself experienced, it did freak me out. Two weeks before then, one of Dave's allies at DKos, Number5 had filled me in a bit on Dave, the UGOG/KosKops, and FSZ.

Please forgive me for any harshness expressed in my previous post. You are an incredible person for not taking it personally. As Dave said before, he wouldn't even have to lift another finger for the story to be figured out. I believe that. I fully agree with the two-pronged approach. We bash the trolls and get back on topic. We are on the good road. We are untouchables. Peace.
