Trying To Live on $500,000 A Year (Part V) - The Personal Trainer
The New York Times reported on rich snobs complaining that they could never live on half a million a year when they are so used to two million a year. They are accustomed to a lifestyle they claim where they would go bankrupt if this were to be the case.
In this world, many of the wives of the Wall Street executives are shallow snobs married to equally shallow snobs who have no substance, content, or depth to them. They are your cheaper versions of the Real Housewives of Orange County.
In their world, looks are everything. The guys are only with them because of looks while they are only with the guys because of money. Some might call this prostitution but on Park Avenue in Manhattan they call this married with children. Of course when the looks go and there's nothing underneath to love, the relationships fall apart because these are status and economic relationships to begin with.
To maintain the looks (again many look beautiful but are so obsessed with every pound that they don't see themselves that way when they should) many of these women hire a personal trainer. A good personal trainer costs $80 an hour. If that's 3 hours a week, there's another $12,000 down the drain. For $12,000, many people pay rent for an entire year. For these women, it's 3 hours a week of a personal trainer. This is another expense that these rich snobs can do without since they may "only" make $500,000 a year.
Instead, how about going online and finding your own exercise program and doing it for 3 hours a week? How about jogging 15 miles a day? There are many websites which can give you a list of hundreds of activities to do. Instead of a stepmaster, walk up a hill. It's actually better. Instead of a weight machine, hold up a bag of grocery bags and walk with them for half a mile. Does the trick better. You can do leg exercises all on your own. You can forego that yoga class and just sit on a bench somewhere for 10 minutes. How much do these things cost per year? Pennies.
So learn to do without your personal trainer you snobs. Learn to live on "only" half a million dollars a year.
