This Week In Stalinist Daily Kos (Meltdown Edition)
This week in Stalinist Daily Kos 10,438 active user screen names, some of them sockpuppets and/or trolls either wrote a diary, made a comment or recommended a diary. Another 5,128 people "lurked" Daily Kos, a site overrun by Stalinists that are an affront to progressives, moderates, and liberals and they must be disowned and disavowed. Thus, adding active users and lurkers we have a grand total of 15,566 people for the week. Only 1 diary had more than 5000 viewers (This is one more than usual) and zero diaries had 500 or more commentators.
These real numbers help dispel the myth that Daily Kos is an influential site. Kos has lost 75% of his audience since October and will continue to lose more because the weirdos, wackos, and degenerates are too influential while most of the real and better Democrats were driven from the site.
The weirdos, wackos and degenerates went way overboard this week and I think people are finally catching on to the fact that the five biggest trolls at DailyKos over the past two years go under the user names MajorFlaw, Bottles/condoleaser, trashablanca, mbnyc, and bouwerie boy. At this point users should be troll rating all five of them as "on site trolls." Force Kos’ hand. Just troll rate them in masse so there’s a record of it. Actually you are doing Kos a favor so he can ban them and then claim they were autobanned by the community.
The Kos Kops have completely destroyed Daily Kos. Republicans should probably pay them to keep doing what they are doing. Sheehan, Lachow, Bouldin and Fingerit have completely melted down. Even lower level Kop members know it. The Sewer Rats exist to drive people away from the site. There will always be a DFQ, Randgrthr, Breckenripple, or Number5. If one doesn’t exist, they’ll create one. So now they have decided to go after some people at FSZ who actually have tried to be calming influences and peacemakers. Well the Kos Kops don’t know that language so tough on them.
The funniest moment of the week was when MajorFlaw told ekhornbeck, "How dare you question me." Here’s the bottom line with Michael Fingerit. You don’t negotiate with him, compromise with him, or reason with him. He’s a sicko and a psychopath. You simply give him two choices and make him pick one. If he doesn’t pick you choose for him and then create two more choices for him to pick. So kudos for ek for putting the psychopath back in his place. The bully has no clothes.
The meltdown of the 5 biggest sewer rats is so obvious that other Kos Kops actually saw the light. Tecampbell sees the light too as his jury duty diary was a parallel for his inner struggle in the role he has played in creating the monster. Somewhere inside of him he knows his "friends" are totally wrong but he hasn’t found the courage to admit it yet. When you are truly sorry Sir and come clean, people will be forgiving.
Sberel tried denying her real identity was her real identity. You posted your real name at Daily Kos, not I. Stop your lying.
Browneyes is confused assuming she actually is the burnt out former model married to her on again off again singer of a minor band. Drugs will do that. Let’s help her since she comes across as the liberal version of Sarah Palin on so many levels. First, PFF is political flesh feast. I never posted there. I learned about its existence when it closed down. Second, UGOG was created before FSZ. So the argument that one was to balance the other is hogwash. Ugog was a private site on a public domain not meant to be found while FSZ was in the open. Third, I was disinvited from the FSZ community. I’m not a part of that site, haven’t been for a couple of months. I like some of the people there and don’t like others. Guess what? I like some of the people at Daily Kos and don’t like others. Oh and other than the harmless deepbottomfisher who never posted a troll comment and my previous statements on conservodem, I’ve not been a user at Daily Kos since I left on my own accord October 6, 2008. Go find one diary at Daily Kos that I wrote (You have about 700 to choose from) that is trollish, Republican, or ultra left wing. Find one and you get a ten dollar bill from me when you dance at a future Netroots Nation.
Moving on, Dhinmi literally spends every comment on Daily Kos demonstrating want a nasty, pompous, dumb-dumb turd he is. He goes into a diary, pukes, then finds new targets and defecates. He’ll never change.

Others long before me picked up on the problem. This says it as well as I've said it. Great job SA. I'll add that the Kos Kops are always looking for new enemies and when none exist, they'll make them. They did this with thousands of people before me, they've done it with hundreds of people after me.

You and your fellow troll policemen wasted gazillions of electrons on the famous circumcision diarist (with the result that every one of his ridiculous diaries got 800+ comments, while diaries on real issues dropped off the front page unnoticed). Now that you've gotten rid of him, you need another Emmanuel Goldstein figure for your 15 Minutes of Hate fests: luckily for you, there are five or so goofballs on this site who think they're going to persuade us to vote for Ron Paul (as fucking if...), so now you have another manufactured threat to waste your energies on. The spectacle of you and your buddies, running around like decapitated chickens, screaming that the site is being taken over by right-wing libertarians is truly laughable.
Meanwhile, everyone else is apparently finding your attempts to turn this site into a Democratic Party cheerleading squad (as opposed to a site that supports Democrats--but with open eyes) quite tedious. To be fair, I find your activism diaries to be one of the best things about the site. I wish you would focus on things like that that proactively improve this site, rather than on this counterproductive track of trying to enforce ideological purity in the most unsubtle way.

If the kos users can't clean house and troll rate all of them on site then they deserve to go down. Obama can't clean the Clinton financial people out of his house either. Seems to be a cultural trait. If they feel like family then you gotta put up with them.

I agree with the first sentence. By now, unless you are truly new, you can't help but know what transpired. The problem is people are afraid and the playing field is not level. If too many people start HRing the Kos Kops, the administrators step in and 1 by 1 start taking away the ratings privileges of those users who violate no rules while never taking away the rating privileges or outright banning any of the Kos Kops. The 2 standards of the site is so obvious for anyone to see.
What bothers me is that people who you think should be decent people (Teacherken for example) as well as a few other higher profiled diarists, know exactly what is going on.
I wouldn't expect a Jeff Merkley to know what's going on b/c a staffer posts the diary and their comments are confined merely to their diaries.
The next thing to do is to confront the few politicians who do post there in public about them posting there. Time and place will be key so I'll remain very patient and wait. I'll have 30 second questions ready for them along with written documentation to pass out and to ask them on the spot if this is true, will you stop posting there? I'll have the info ready for them on the spot. So they put up or shut up. If they back up Daily Kos at that point, they go down at the polls because it creates a scandal and they will be defending something that is indefensible.

To be honest I'm not the leader, I'm just one voice who is the face of the product of work of thousands of other people. 95% of what has been gathered was gathered by others, not me. I think my contribution has been mostly the math concerning the site. For example, Keith Olbermann probably thinks 100,000 people read his special comment. In reality it was at most 3005. It's this gap between reality and perception that must be exposed.
What I have done better than anyone before me is organize the information, which is something I do real well in life. Basically here are the categories that the data is organized under.
1. Kos' quotes, behavior, scandals, and opportunism;
2. The long list of Democrats who despise him and why;
3. The real numbers of the site;
4. The behavior of the Kos Kops and Moulitsas 100% support of that behavior.
It's really organized in such a way that anybody who reads it can't help but be convinced that it's the truth. The mere fact that 200 links back it up helps of course.
What's the matter with kos? He's seriously mentally ill, he has a Napoleonic complex, and he seeks to do unto others with the same level of cruelty, that which had been done onto him throughout his entire childhood. Instead of eating fast and running to the library b/c he has no friends, he now eats fast and hides behind his keyboard.
As for what is destroying the site? The Kos Kops are doing my work for me.

Interesting. I lurk at DailyKos and make a point of staying out of the controversy. I only found this site due to a couple of the Kops mentioning it in their comments on a post today. They are your best promoters! ;-)
There is enough about DailyKos that I like that keeps me reading the diaries for the information provided, but I long ago gave up on ever being a part of the "community". I never diary and rarely comment. The comments I occasionally uprate are those that are HR'd without justification, or that point out the bad behavior of the troll patrol, because it sickens me. Twice I've recommended DailyKos to friends who were so put off by the behavior in the comments that it turned into a huge embarrassment for me. Never again.
My small way of protesting is to block all of the ads on DailyKos so I'm not financially supporting the bad behavior, or lack of action by the site owner. At one time I considered informing Markos why I would never click an ad until the problems were addressed, but the way he ridicules and dismisses critics off hand made that seem like pointless masochism. The problem with mob rule is that the mob never recognizes itself regardless of the evidence.
Markos reminds me of a corporate CEO who believes poor customer service is OK because the product is popular and so many people will continue to buy it that the unhappy customers don't matter. So I treat DailyKos like any company that is unresponsive to complaints, by refusing to support it financially. If others would do the same the message would get through.

Indeed there are some interesting diaries and occasionally some good info that gets posted at Daily Kos. Most of the users and community members are good people who want to make a difference.
The behavior of the troll patrol is, as you put it, sickening and indeed puts people off. It's frightening and appalling, especially from people who claim to be progressive or liberal.
Your analysis with the CEO is spot on. Many people have thought similarly. I use the old analogy of Sears during the 1980s. They thought they were invincible and treated customers poorly with the attitude of "Don't like it, shop elsewhere." And so people did.
Prior to leaving DailyKos I tried reaching out to Markos on multiple occasions. I also had multiple correspondence with Barb, emails I later reposted at FSZ before they disappeared. (I still have them) Now if you've never read this before this will shock you. I had told them the following: (You're going to convict me of being too kind and reasonable)
1. An offer to avoid MajorFlaw at all times at the site provided it was mutual.
2. While every HR I ever gave of users (and I didn't do it often) was proper, I offered to remove ALL HRs that any administrator disagreed with.
Despite that, they went after me. #2 is the kicker, I offer complete reasonableness and submission to their purported rules and it wasn't good enough.
The evidence of what the Kos Kops are doing and Kos' support of them is indeed so obvious to anyone who chooses to see it. Most people at DailyKos see it. A few ignore it, most chose to leave the site.
