New Statistics Continue To Show Daily Kos' Self Destruction
Gauging the exact traffic at a website is an imperfect science. We know that sitemeter is the most inaccurate indicator for it counts the same visitor over and over and over again. Alexa is far from perfect since it is far behind in updating its statistics but it can help spot trends. Then there is Compete.com and quantcast.com which have flaws but also positives. January's stats are out and it's bad new for Kos.
First, Huffingtonpost has clearly left Dailykos in the dust. It's no longer close. Next, DemocraticUnderground never was ahead of Daily Kos. For the past month, it has always been ahead of DailyKos. Then there are sites like politico, salon, talkingpointsmemo, and thousands of others that are clearly ahead of DailyKos. Dailykos barely beat out redlobster.com by a couple of hundred visitors. The point being that while DailyKos may have once been the number one "progressive" site, today it is out of the top ten and fading fast. Several additional liberal leaning sites are poised to move past DailyKos in the very near future. Yes, we told you so back in September and October. In all fairness, a lot of people warned Kos that the Kos Kops were going to destroy the site.
Next, the trend at DailyKos is downward. It was to be expected that every political site would site a downturn from November 4 through November 30. The conventional wisdom was that site stats would stabilize by November 30 and then level out or see a slight increase. This is what happened at HP, DU and everywhere else. It is what did not happen at DailyKos. They continued downward before stabilizing in January and with inauguration day behind us, expect another downward trend. They only got a 1 day inauguration bump which was still far below any point in September, October, or November.
At compete.com you saw the line flatten out for January. The drop was only 0.6%. (Again every other major progressive site ticked upward) This followed Kos' 45.6% drop for December alone, a direct result of ugog.
Both compete and quantcast have Daily Kos monthly visitors around 450,000-575,000. Jotter's number of active users and lurkers usually is about 9,000 a day so multipled by 30 that's 270,000. Kos claimed 22 million visits via Sitemeter in January (Lower than every month last year except December and only by a small margin) which is way out of whack with every other statistic. Of course visits could be his staff of 25 people logging on 1000s of times a day to make changes and update the site as well as ad links which get clicked and then ignored.
The Koseviks claim that for every 100 people who view the site, 10 will comment and 1 will write a diary. They average about 1000 diaries per week and commenters are around 10,000. So assuming the best case scenario, 100,000 computer screens across the globe view the site and this includes tens of thousands of one time only clicks generated by advertising. (Trust me I know something about this. You advertise your site everywhere, build it up, link it everywhere and you can inflate your numbers exponentially.)
Overall these numbers prove again that Kos' behavior and actions and his support of the Kos Kops are on the road to making the site irrelevant. We're not there yet but we'll get there.

Kos and the Kos Kops did this all to themselves. It's so funny that now they are the ones complaining the loudest about outings when they did it for years to so many different people. We can thank the effete Laura KKKlawson for actually going on the record as defending the outings by Bottles and Flaw as having expired due to a "statute of limitations."
Our goal is to make sure these people never have any influence in our politics. They are toxic and now you see them trying to undermine Obama.

Michael seems to think that by raising the question, that logically means I shopped in one of the stores.
As for Kos, his site is out of the top 10 of liberal leaning political sites. If the true numbers of active users at the site gets out and just 20% of what I've exposed goes mainstream media, Daily Kos is dead.

I totally agree. Since my run-in with one of the Kos Kops (the one who lost his chiropractic license in Colorado), I have wondered how Kos thinks he will keep his site going and relevant.

There are more Democrats and centerleft to left leaning folks who have been wrongly bullied at Daily Kos by these folks than there are active users remaining at the site. You are part of an ever growing majority.

At the top of the snake chart is Kos himself who loves this abuse and bullying. He thinks it will undo 7 years of torture from middle and high school that he went through.
But next is our friend BarbinMd aka Barbara Morrill. Consider her the Vice President of Kos Kop Bullying at the site or the #2. Joining her as 2a-2d are MissLaura, ScoutFinch, Hunter, and CT. Dhinmi is just an ass and good German brownsox follows along but Barb is the one who spends most of the time on the Kos Kop meta.
Barbara Morrill has no integrity, has no conscience, and has no decency. She's also very lazy and enjoys the cruelty and brutality just like Kos. I'm sure an investigative history of her life would reveal a person who has few if any friends and someone who has repeatedly been mistreated everywhere she's gone.
While Barb serves as a buffer to give Kos a degree of deniabiility, make no mistake that Kos knows exactly what's going on. He spends 17 hours a day on his laptop. Barb delegates the dirty work to the Kos Kops to again create another level of degree of deniability. But their ruse has been exposed for their fingerprints are everywhere.
It is this gang of Kos Kops, and they are a gang total 20 people at the site with 5-10 who are hard core. Every single one of them has dirt in their past which is why Kos and Barb can control them. For a site like this to be associated with Lloyd Lachow is gold for the critics of Daily Kos.
Sadly these 20 people out of 5000 active users (I rounded up) or 1 in every 250 people at the site, are allowed to do whatever they want. If you cross them, you are marked for extinction. I'm curious which Kos Kop(s) went after you.
There are some DailyKos users left who don't know or understand what's going on. However, most users do but know that speaking out means eventual banning.
Some people don't want to leave, thinking that exposure at DailyKos can lead to other opportunities. So they remain silent, a moral failing on all their parts. It's a moral failing I am guilty of as well for many months for I spoke out too late.
There have probably been about 10,000 of us over a 3 year period, all legitimate, solid Democrats, who were driven by the site by the same gang of people while not breaking any of the publicized rules of the site. Now in a fair fight, the 10,000 of us could easily get rid of the 20 cretins but the playing field is rigged. Whenever a bunch of people at once decide to do the right thing and they outnumber the Kos Kops at that given time, Barb will come in and take away the rating privileges of these people, a precursor to getting banned.
Now in a fair fight the Kos Kop following you around would have been banned for stalking, excessive personal attacks, incivility, thread hijacking, ratings abuse, and blatant trolling. Yet despite the fact that you can show that this person broke 6 major rules of the site multiple times, they ban you instead of the real troll.
