In court on Tuesday no snow had yet fallen.  I rarely watch weather reports, read weather reports, or check the Internet for the weather.  I'll know how cold it is when I get outside.

When I was in court one of the court personnel asked if it was going to snow.  I said, "yes we're getting about 4 inches."  She asked how I knew.  I told her, "I have a weather vane on the back of my neck. I know exactly when snow is coming and about how much."  True to form, it snowed Tuesday, 4 inches to be precise.  I did not check any weather report in any media outlet.

What this is, is an innate ability.  For example, elephants in Thailand knew the tsunami was coming minutes before it arrived.  (Hey I think I can find an elephant in San Bernandino whose waist size is about a 48 to detect earthquakes.  Oh BTW that's about 10 inches wider than handsome me.)  True humor aside, many of us have innate abilities.  Detecting snow is just one of them for me.

For example I have an innate ability to do counting along the lines of Rain Man.  I can also read text upside down and backwards.  I could do 6th grade math in 1st grade and was a pac man whiz as a kid who could see every action, ghost, and speed on the board and process what they were doing in less than a seconds time.

I also have an innate ability to size people up really, really well.  Very often I see things in people that it will take others months to see because I am able to process data and body language at a rate that is sick.  (The downside of this is that my mind works too quickly and I must shut it down at times to adjust to those around me.)  I see the muscles they can't feign and my reads on people, their relationships and their character are so remarkably spot on that dozens of people who have known me through the years have asked my advice on how certain people would match up, etc...  I also tend to predict flawlessly which couples are gettting married, which ones will break up, which ones will get married and divorced, etc... 

So what innate abilities do you have?  Oh, and by the way, as proud as I am of these abilities and many others, there are plenty of areas where I am clueless and make everyone else in the world look like geniuses.  I'm a firm believer in Gardner for those who know.
