News Around The Net
Will Bunch has a new book out about myths of the Reagan presidency. The right wing has tried perpetuating the Reagan myth for decades. Bottom line is Reagan was almost as bad as Bush. Reagan destroyed our economy, our infrastructure, had nothing to do with the collapse of the USSR, and was weak on fighting terrorists. More debt was accumulated in Reagan's 8 years than in the 192 years prior to him combined. It's important we destroy the mythology behind Reagan.
A good way to end your night is to listen to Mike Malloy. I don't always agree with him but this is tough progressive talk and I usually like it. Hartmann, Stephanie Miller and others are good as well.
Brad Blog celebrates its 5 year anniversary this weekend. I first notice the blog back in 2005 with this outstanding real reporting on
Ann Coulter. It's a great article to reread for it highlights much of her venom (to that point) along with the story of Daniel Borchers, a conservative who recognized how bad Coulter was for conservatism. (I kind of relate to him given that there is a certain Berkeley blogger who claims to be a liberal but has the same effect as Ann Coulter.) The article is also the source of my comment on Ann Coulter about how she once blamed Jews for the Holocaust, something people thought I was making up when I said it.
Give me some of what Paul Begala is smoking. He is claiming Paterson broke a glass ceiling by appointing Gillibrand to a seat held by a female Senator when the other major contenders were also female. Oh he refers to her district as "conservative" and refers to upstate New York as "blood-red." I on the other hand believe her district to be moderately/liberal on the real issues but just don't always call themselves that. Plus, upstate New York has been voting Democratic for a few years now. That's the difference between people like me who think mainstream liberal values can win almost everywhere and people like Begala who think the nation is conservative and that the only way to win is to be conservative-lite.
If you can afford to buy a car, now might be the time. Dealerships are closing everywhere.
Who is in power matters always. This is change we can believe in. Cleaner Air!!! Yes one of the thousands of differences between most people and right wing conservatives is that most people believe in clean air and right wing conservatives don't mind seeing people hurt or killed by unclean air. Obama is taking a step in the right direction here.

Nice post. Keep challenging their thinking. Obama needs more stimulus in trains and rails and public transportation. roads and auto infrastructure will piss away what little money we have left. Happy Motoring is over folks. http://www.kunstler.com

For decades, we've seen redistribution of wealth, from the middle to the top.
As a result, most of our domestic infrastructure and middle class protections have been destroyed.
In order to rebuild and get us back to where we were 1946-1970, we MUST raise taxes on the very rich. (top 1%)
