Netroots Must Disown Kos, Hamsher & The Townhouse
Who are the progressive or liberal netroots? Answer - millions of loosely connected individuals who blog all over the place. Most of us are interested in bettering our country. We're not in it for the power or the money nor are we trying to be gatekeepers as to what people are allowed to think.
Unfortunately, a group so large has some bad apples. These bad apples are named Moulitsas, Armstrong, Hamsher, and Stoller. These 4 individuals, all Townhouse gatekeepers, are in this to make money. They want power and influence. They see themselves as the next Karl Roves, Mary Matalins, James Carvilles or Bob Shrums. To gain that influence, they have shut down tens of thousands of liberal voices.
They try to claim that they somehow speak for the netroots. They use this lie and exaggerate their statistics so that the mainstream media goes to them when they need a soundbite. When these jerks go on TV or radio and claim to speak for all of us, we have to make it clear. They do not speak for us. In reality, they don't speak for 98% of us, if not 99%. We outnumber them, let's put them back in their place.
The hatred shown toward Caroline Kennedy was way over the top. The filth was led by Hamsher and Kos and make no mistake about it, the nails and princess comments they endorsed are undoubtedly sexist and bordering on misoygnist.
Why isn't Caroline Kennedy Senator? Well maybe she truly was going to be the choice but withdrew although I don't buy it. I think she blew it in her interviews and her handling of the situation. I also believe Schumer got his puppet. Schumer is running in 2010 and now he'll endorse Paterson who clearly handled this whole situation poorly.
What role did the Netroots play? Maybe some, maybe all, maybe none. I just don't know. What I do know is that a progressive woman who represents everything on the issues that these gatekeeper say they want in a Democrat on the issues was vilified while a Blue Dog from the very blue state of New York is about to become Senator. She worked for Al D'Amato for goodness sakes. But these gatekeepers say they want progressive Dems. Bullshit. Caroline Kennedy was that progressive Democrat, Kirsten Gillabrand probably won't become that kind of Senator although I'll certainly give her time and judge her by her record as Senator. (Which means the state turns redder and Paterson is in trouble in 2010 if he's the Democratic nominee for Governor.)
If you ever wanted proof that Kos, Hamsher, and their small ilk do NOT represent the best interests of the Democratic Party and center left voices, they've proven to you once again why they are the best hope Republicans have going for them now. I want no part of these assholes and you should want no part of them either.
