Lily Ledbetter Act To Become Law
It matters who is in charge of government. The Lily Ledbetter Act is about to become law.
I'll simplify the differences between most people and right wing conservatives who oppose this bill.
Most people believe that workplaces that wage discrimination is wrong.
Right wing conservatives believe it is okay to discriminate against women in the workplace.
5 Supreme Court Justices rendered this ridiculous decision a couple of years ago where they made it easier to discriminate against women. The five justices simply ignored the law and the Constitution and by judicial fiat, imposed their Far Right agenda on America. They've done this many a time with no legitimate constitutional basis for their decisions.
The Lily Ledbetter Act is a step in the right direction. Expect the Supreme Court to eventually find other ways to screw people. With Roberts, Alito, Thomas and Scalia on that court and Kennedy much of the time, we are still not a free nation. Stevens and Ginsburg probably retire in the next 18 months. I also wouldn't be surprised if Kennedy followed suit. I advocate for strong Constitutional justices in the tradition of Marshall, Brennan, Warren, and Goldberg. With two anticipated openings, Obama may go in this direction since the justices he would be replacing are part of the constitution protecting four. Let him save his Justice Breyer type pick for an opening like Kennedy.
