News Around The Net

It's time for News Around The Net.  I get stories, you pick the ones you like.

Good way to start a news day is by going to  Buzzflash.  Kind of a progressive smorgasboard.

Ron Moore has a good article about the sweatshop conditions at Walmart.  People should not work there, should not buy from there.

There are corrupt democrats but for every corrupt Democrat there seems to be 10 corrupt republicans.  Here's a long list of republican felons and their indicted brethren. A long list of conservative sex offenders can be found at this link.  I've said it before, I'll say it again, the values of conservatism are more likely to breed this kind of behavior than the values of moderates, liberals, or progressives.

At least one of Obama's appointments will get shot down by Republicans and at least one of Obama's appointments will get shot down by Democrats.  That's how politics works.  The Nation has some tough questions for Eric Holder.  He may not get approved by both parties.

Sometimes David Stern is just an asshole.  Players can be fined for the smallest of things but when the Portland Trail Blazers try interfering with Darius Miles' livelihood to save salary cap space for the next two years, Stern turns a blind eye.  Now is there anybody out there in the NBA who would like Jared Jeffries' salary or Eddy Curry's salary for any player with an expiring contract?
