Dear Most Kossacks - Just Leave The Site

Dear Most Kossacks:

Almost 3 months ago I published a farewell diary in which I stated or implied that there were serious things wrong with Daily Kos including but not limited to cyberbullying, cliques, and secret coordination of the system to squelch discourse at the site. Of course the Politiburo's official line when someone leaves the site is to label it a "GBCW" to minimize the message.  As you learned with the discovery of UGOG, the hatred toward Caroline Kennedy, and other revelations, I just happened to be right.

I was in your shoes for a couple of months prior to my departure. I wanted to leave, just as I know most of you now want to leave because you realize the true nature of Markos, his Kostapo, and some of his FPers.  Two things held me back.  The first was "Where do I go?" and the second was some kind of feint hope that somehow that the truths that were being revealed to me just weren't true and I didn't want to believe my own two eyes.

If you've checked the online rankings and ratings, you will notice that DailyKos has taken a nosedive in the past two months because the gate has been crashed and the truths about Markos have penetrated deeply enough for most of you to see them.  Hundreds of others have tried to get that truth out to you (and to me) in the past but now enough of that truth has penetrated.  You are resourceful and independent enough to realize the truth in the end, that's what makes you progressive to liberal.

There is nothing liberal about Daily Kos.  There is nothing progressive about it.  There is nothing Democratic nor democratic about it. It's a hate site.  It's a dishonest site.  It's a bullying site.  It represents everything you are not.  The quicker we as Democrats and progressives disown it and come to the  defense of Democrats who get attacked by its proprietors, the better off we will all be.

If you are looking for places to go I can help.  No, don't spend 3 hours a day at my blog.  It's meant for a 2-5 minute perusing and a comment or two per day.  This is about you, not me.  There are hundreds of liberal websites on the Internet.  There are plenty of places to diary.

I know you like the format of DailyKos and you held out hope that the ideal could become reality. Unfortunately, it can not but hopefully someone else will make this concept real.  Join me and thousands of others solid Democrats and make it real clear that Kos and the people in charge of that site do not speak for Democrats, liberals, or the netroots.  They are an embarrassment to us all.  Most of us realize it now, you do too.  So don't be afraid.  Just leave the site.

Peace,

DFQ

Yeh. It was exactly that way for me. I kept fighting knowing I was piling up the 3's for autoban but I couldn't stop denouncing them. It sure has taken a long time for the sunlight.

You are part of the majority now. Most Democrats, progressives, liberals, etc... do not like DailyKos. We've turned the corner, we're beyond the point of critical mass. Kos is finished in politics before he ever could really get started. Just keep putting the pedal to the medal.

So where do I go? I am trying to get used to Democratic Underground. I have pretty much stopped commenting but have not yet been able to stop reading. But I am ready for the site to be gone, philosophically.

      A potpouri of sites.

Democratic Underground - I'm low key there, I just pick a couple of topics I'm most interested in and stay to those.

Buzzflash - start your day there - get good news and a summary of stuff.

Huffington Post - Pick a story or two and join the threads. Limit it to 5-10 mins a day.

Media Matters - Best site for RW bias. Leave a comment in a thread each day.

NewsHounds - monitors Fox News' brilliant. Easy to comment in the threads. Nice community.

Blogs - myleftwing, fsz, my site here, and thousands of others. (yes they are out there.)

A good thing to do is look at the blogrolls from a site you like. Very often you get a hundred sites.

Figure that the hard core spent an hour a day at Daily Kos. So you divide that time up

      Buzzflash - 8 mins
      Huffington Post - 8 mins
      Democratic Underground - 8 mins.
      Newshounds - 4 mins
      Davefromqueens.com - 4 mins
      myleftwing - 4 mins
      fsz - 4 mins
      media matters - 4 mins

Find a local state blog you like and open up there - take 5 mins.

Bookmark your 10-15 sites on the side in your favorites. Then just click from one to the next.

Thanks. Will give this a try.

Might I make a suggestion? Since there is no restrictions to reprinting dkos material, why not make a blog site that is devoted to dkos example diaries/stories/comments. By doing this, one could still highlight whatever one is writing about without giving them more hits when we double click on the example. We could reference from the copy site instead.

Not a bad idea. At any time, if somebody posts something really good, we can simply recopy it.

Also, can always do the mockery.

Going to stick to the This Week in Stalinist Daily Kos diaries.

They are on the ropes, their numbers are plummetting and I've looked at other sites like HF and DU and the trends only apply to Daily Kos.

The goal is simply making them irrelevant, making it clear that this small handful of people does not speak for us (Dems, netroots, liberals) and punishing politicians that cater to them.

Chill at FSZ for a while just so you don't go through withdrawls.

Not the greatest place but at least you won't get banned out of existence.

      Then from there, shop around.

Media Matters and Newshounds are reputable sites to receive information on rightwing bias. Keep in mind that the fight continues against the extreme rightwingers after Bush leaves office. The sites you mentioned above know that Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Cunningham, Coulter, Boortz will still find a way to kick Obama out of office. Stand up for Dems against these dangerous terrorists of the airwaves.

I believe the best assets for keeping Obama and Dems in power are these right wing haters you mention.

Newshounds does the best job monitoring Fox and Media Matters does the best job monitoring right wing bias.

Obama's approval ratings have now soared into the 70s and I expect them to stay there for a while.

Hi Dave. I'm still energyless but want to provide you with lots of past comments from the koskops before they became so transparent due to you. There are so many pages that I am wondering about posting here or sending them to you via attachments in an email. I still think if all this were edited it would be a great expose book. I have all kinds of comments that are chilling in their implications.
