Pompous Adam Bonin Bashes Caroline Kennedy At Daily Kos
The attacks on Caroline Kennedy continue, no substance to them of course. It's pissing Markos off so much that another front pager had to go out and bash her. This time it's Adam Bonin. And this guy is a lawyer in Philadelphia no less! Hehe.
Bonin begins:
We here at DailyKos criticize Democratic office-holders and office-seekers all the time, but rarely have I seen the level of how dare you question? hostility as with the response to the front-paged stories offering skepticism towards Caroline Kennedy's pursuit of a Senatorial appointment.
Now let's all laugh. I think the hostility is toward Caroline Kennedy, who has accomplished so much in the private sector for over two decades. A case of projection.
Bonin continues:
I don't intend to psychoanalyze the motives of those who remain so defensive of Ms. Kennedy's candidacy, but I think I can shed some light as to what's animating the skeptics. Take a look at this set of last names, and tell me what legacies come to mind:
Bruenjes, Clawson, Dworkin, Gardner, Houle, Jaikumar, Lange, Lazzaro, Lewison, Logothesis, McCarter, McIntyre, Morrill, Moulitsas, Sumner, van der Linden, Waldman
Hey, I recognize virtually all those names!!!!! Of course what Bonin is doing is psychoanalzying the motives of everyone else. Bonin rambles on.
In all likelihood, the only one you even recognize is Moulitsas. They're not the names of titans of industry, or of former Senators. These names don't guarantee that your phone calls to important figures will be returned, they won't get you a table at a restaurant that purports to be booked, they don't get you invited to movie premieres or gallery openings ... they really don't open any doors at all.
Well he got this right. After DailyKos has basically destroyed itself with its pompous, arrogant, dishonest, and illiberal tactics virtually guaranteeing that Democrats will go anywhere but there, you can be sure these people aren't getting invited to any A lists. (Or B lists or C lists.) What follows next is comical.These are the last names of the front-pagers at DailyKos, and the thing that everyone here has in common is that they earned their spots here. Markos built this site -- and he invited the people who write for the front page -- and you come here to read them -- because of their ideas, and how well they express them. It wasn't wealthy investors or big names that built this site -- it was their writing and your interest in it.
Wrong. In fact so many of the great writers of the site left the site. Where's the meritocracy? Why isn't bondad a front pager or Jerome of Paris or pastordan or teacherken or nyceve? These people get more read and more recommended than the list of mostly creeps that Bonin references? Oh and not to mention some others I know. Bonin continues:
The Kennedy candidacy, on its face, stands in opposition to this ethos. So far, it has been about leveraging the power of a name into a Senate seat without the effort of a two-year campaign, and without the type of legislative or executive experience that one generally brings to the table before running for the Senate.
Sorry but she's a lawyer, an educator, a mother, she worked closely with Uncle Ted on his staff. She's an executive, well liked, and connects to people. I never heard criticism of her until Daily Kos started their smear campaign against this wonderful woman. But that's why DailyKos is pissed. They wanted someone "appointed" to this job from their NYC inner circle. They have a particular congressman or congresswoman in mind who they think they own. They know they can't buy Caroline Kennedy and never will. But hahahaha to the Kos Kooks (Note, most readers at DK disagree with the Kos Kooks who control the site). Say Senator Caroline Kennedy. And in two years, she'll crush El Fascisto Peter King by 20 points or more.

I included Pastordan because I think every diary he writes ends up recommended.
Jerome, bonddad, nyceve, icebergslim, dengre, now that's a meritocracy. And most of my stuff, which I churned out daily, kicked the crap out of the front pagers based on user recommends.
Now going back to the payola story, you bet that it exists with Kos. He charges for access to that front page for those candidates. Kos is a little too cozy with Chuck Schumer (What might be interesting is seeing someone primary Schumer in 2010 b/c he's nowhere near as safe as he thinks he is IF we find the right candidate) and you can bet the ranch that Schumer has someone in mind for HIllary's seat and that Kos is bashing Caroline to try and help this person. That person may be Weiner but it could also be another member of the NYC congressional delegation.
This hatred of Caroline Kennedy is all about power. Schumer can't buy Caroline Kennedy, neither can Kos. That is what this is about. The mere volume and level of intensity and attention paid to this makes it obvious even to some hard core DKosers who are seeing through Markos on this. I mean, she agrees with them on gay marriage no less.
Don't let the mere fact that I got part of that Weiner story wrong detract from that. When I make mistakes, I hone up to them. When they are of a journalistic nature, I retract and correct them in equal or greater force than the initial posting.

You're right about Jerome a P, Teacher Ken and NYC Eve deserving to be on the front page, but pastordan is nothing but a creeping Jesus.

last year, when many people mentioned my name for FP, I posted a comment that I did not think my writing style suited the front page. I still feel that way. That's for starters.
I also feel that if you are going to attack Adam, you should have the guts to do so at dailykos in a diary there - you still have an account, do you not?
I think you misread and misinterpret Adam's posting. He points at Al Giordano's diary as an example of how one can make the case for Caroline Kennedy.
Oh, and most readers of dailykos do not know the last names of the Editors, beyond that of Markos.

Well there are 2 ways I could "attack Adam"
1. I could create some sockpuppets and do it. Contrary to popular myth, other than Deepbottomfisher, I haven't been at the site for 11 weeks.
2. if they want to put back davefromqueens and post my article under that name I'll post it there as is. The account is no longer active.
I feel much better doing what I'm doing here. Feel free to criticize what I've been doing but the truth on Kos and the Kos Kops is the truth. Great thing is many Kossacks now recognize it. We do not need these people speaking for Democrats. They don't speak for most of it. Evaluate the merits. Do you have an opinion on ugog? What do you think of all the troll ratings and community moderation actually be an organized ruse? What do you think of the bullying?
The thing that people were mocking was the idea of a meritocracy. You (if this is legit, your email was) would be worthy on merit as would all the other names. The point is that people don't FP at DK on merit (absent Meteor, Georgia, Susan, etc..) but they do so for other reasons.

And Pompous Adam Boner, married to a "very big ______," actually claimed that Sarah Palin was more qualified than Caroline. He also admires how Palin clawed her way up to the top. (ah lying, smearing, etc..)
CK is all class. She's done a zillion things more in real life to help people than all the FPers at Daily Kos combined. She got into Harvard on merit, wrote books, got a law degree, wrote a book on the constitution (Hmm a guy named BArack taught con law), worked with charities, executive experience, businesswoman, worked on a Senate campaign, high level executive in education, involved in the community and arts.
Her endorsement of Obama was vital. It was the one endorsement at just the right time that made more difference than any other.
And in almost 50 years nobody has had a bad word to say about her for people like her.
The faux outrage at Daily Kos among the FPers (and opposed by most users who are finally starting to realize that DFQ was right 2.5 months ago and has been since) is not about some opposition to family dynasties (ah Udalls) or against people who have never served in politics before (Ned Lamont), it's about something else.
If CK is appointed, Kos can't buy her. He can't have some NYC candidate pay him to fundraise at Daily Kos for that seat because CK won't give him the time of day. Kos will lose out on his biggest possible moneymaker in 2010, the primary for Hillary's NY Senate Seat.
Boo hoo. Hey Kos, let us know which Dems you are going to primary so I can work against you.
