The New York Times actually is engaging in journalism as it begins to unravel New York's Senator For Sale Charle E Schumer.  There are several prongs to this story.

Basically the story talks about how Schumer is cozying up to Wall Street and its financiers.  And what does Schumer get for giving them what they want in legislation? According to the NY Times, this,

        The message clearly resonated. The next week, executives at firms represented at the breakfast sent in more than $135,000 in campaign donations.

Schumer has been in charge of the Democratic Senatorial Committee for four years.  Schumer has served as a gatekeeper as to who can run for office and who can not, denying Democratic primary voters the opportunity to make their own choices.  The most notorious example of Schumer, and this is where his connection to Markos Moulistas (Kos) comes in is in the Ohio Payola Scandal where Hackett was railroaded out of the race despite polls showing him crushing Mike Dewine.
