For years, many DailyKos users have suspected that a small group of users categorized as Kostapo, turnoff trolls, or Kos Kops have secretly coordinated with each other with the goal of driving good Democrats from the site by hijacking diaries and comment threads, gaming the troll rating system,  and acting in ways that invoke the words Stalinists and Nazis.  At DailyKos I made some assertions along these lines.

    1.  Majorflaw, bottles/condoleaser, trashablanca, mbnyc, tecampbell, and some others were a bunch of turnoff trolls who were at DailyKos to drive Democrats away from the site.
    2.  These Kos Kops were communicating in some form, believed to be email, and working as a group to uprate comments, troll rate people, and work to get people they had personal dislike of banned from the site.
    3.  Kos enjoys the Kos Kops because they generate big time page view hits which makes his product profitable.

And now we have irrefutable proof that it is all true.

We have evidence of the following behavior from this group of Kos Kops.

1.  Making physical threats against other bloggers, including threats of sodomizing them and applying electroshock.
2.  Outing of people's real names, addresses, places of work, etc...
3.  A threat to send anonymous emails to someone's workplace to try and get them fired.
4.  Outing links to a person's website at work.
5.  Admissions by these users that they were at the site to drive Democrats away.
6.  A well coordinated, detailed, and sophisticated battleplan by these users to game the system, drive people away, and deliberately inflame other users  because they considered it a "game" to get people banned.
7.  References to people's children when the person doing the referencing agreed to give up his license to practice being a chiropractor for allegedly sexually assaulting two patients.

Of course there's more.  This is appalling, disgusting, and even my enemies on the Right (Hannity, Levin) never sunk this low.  But now the issue goes back to Markos Moulistas a/k/a Kos.

For many years thousands of people provided proof to Kos and his minions about what was going on but Kos ignored it and sided with the same Kos Kops who have now been permanently discredited.  We felt that the reason why Kos wouldn't act was twofold.  First Kos made money from the page hits generated by these meta wars and fighting and second Kos apparently enjoyed the bullying.  Given Kos' appearance of 24 comments in my final diary while making 0 comments combined in diaries of other people that day dealing with Palin, Iraq, the economy, Obama, health care, and education, it seems clear what topic most interested Kos.

There is no question that during the past few weeks I have been motivated on two fronts.  First, when you are mistreated, you do what billions have before me -- You organize, gather information, and then try to deciminate that information to put a stop to it.  Second, it is my sincere belief that the website DailyKos has become a toxin for Democrats because of Kos and a few of the contributors who speak for it. (most notably Laura Clawson, Dana Houle, Barb Morill, and Scout Finch).  Thus by exposing Kos and the Kostapo, you actually help Democrats both now and in the future.

With these latest revelations and now over 16 hours to reflect before writing, here is what I think needs to be done.

A.  Get this information out there to as wide an audience as possible and as quickly as possible.  This means people like David Sirota who is also a victim of the Kostapo (see the threads), all former users, local blogs, as well as right wing media outlets.
B.  Peacefully confront the few remaining Democratic politicians and media personalities who associate with Markos and his FPers, provide them with this information, and ask them whether they want to be associated with this behavior.  It is important that all of these people be given a fair chance to review the information first.  If they later choose to associate with Kos, then we disown them as well.  I'll be confronting Schumer and Patterson with the information sometime in the next year since I live in New York.  They have elections in 2010.
C.  Make it clear that we as Democrats do not want Kos speaking for us, the netroots, or liberals.  We disown him and shun him.
D.  Collectively fill the void by seeking out other alternatives.

The behavior of the Kostapo speaks for itself.  The fact that it was discovered by pure accident is comical.  But it is what it is and Kos decided long ago that he owned this nonsense.  I think today should be renamed Bloody Sunday b/c MajorFlaw's little dungeon is the proverbial fork that just got planted firmly on Markos.
