The 25 Biggest Assholes At Daily Kos
As many of you know, I used to blog regularly at Dailykos as davefromqueens but no longer do so. At Dailykos I had written that while at the site I speak for me and me only. However, it also appeared, based on marketing, that Kos' site was one in which Democrats were welcomed and a true and sustainable blogging community could be built from the soapbox. This ideal is what attracted me to the site, however I learned, as tens of thousands of other solid Democrats learned, that DailyKos is anything but a community.
Below are 3 major articles I've written which break down most of what you need to know about DailyKos. Moreover, we will do meta here. The site has been destroyed by what Al Gore has referred to as "Digital Brownshirts." These are people who spend several hours a day at DailyKos trolling all while claiming to be troll hunters. They go through diaries and comments and supposedly identify trolls. Of course, using broad definitions of a troll, EVERY comment ever posted could be labeled a troll comment. Therefore, these people call others troll not based on comments but based on personalities and other agendas. They have effectively destroyed DailyKos and we will expose why.
Second, I repeat some of the major talking points about Markos Moulistas that should be used by the media. I'll gather more everytime Kos posts something really stupid or extreme. The bottom line is that most progressives hate this guy because he is a Stalinist, he's authoritarian, he's illiberal, he's mean, he's fundamentally dishonest, and bad for Democrats. Thus it is necessary for us as Democrats to disassociate ourselves from him, along with other turnoff trolls like Media Benjamin and Al Sharpton.

1. Major Flaw - Ultimate turnoff troll and big time jackass. Dishonest, no integrity, no life. Big liar. He has outed several members of the community with personal info. He and the Kostapo have singlehandedly destroyed the website DailyKos by driving away solid Democrats with a whole potpourri of tactics and douchbaggery behavior intended to do just that. 2. Bottles/voila/condoleaser - Sick evil bastard. A friend's personal information was outed by bottles to hurt that person. And "conservodem" got more than a little pissed off and told Condoleaser exactly what "conservodem" thought of him. 3. Markos Moulistas Zuniga (Kos) - The Ann Coulter of the Left. Read extended text. 4. Dr. Laura/Miss Laura - The Laura Schlessinger of the Left but known by 5 people not 5 million. Liar, racist (2007 Yearly Kos), Obama basher, attacked a woman over a dying husband, nasty, totally lacking a conscience. 5. Trashablanca- Turnoff troll nicknamed trash. 6. MBNYC - Racist, paranoid NYC managing director of DailyGotham who makes death threats against me and others. Apparently David Michaelson (mole333), NYU Med Center biologist and Liza Sabater don't mind Michael Bouldin's bizarre and threatening behavior although Ms. Sabater will be given a chance to prove me wrong. 7. TeCampbell - Passive/Aggressive Stalinist kook and part of the Sewage. 8. Browneyes - It is a former banned user and a right wing troll. Nasty, dishonest, completely insane, obsessive, has no ethics or integrity. 9. Dhinmi-Dana Houle. Major league a-hole. Nasty jerk. Disliked immensely by many Dems. 10. Taylormattd - Turnoff troll nicknamed "The C*nt" for his hypocrisy. Also involved in Flaw's Sewage Site. 11. BarbinMd - The archives reveal her to be a lying weasel actively involved in the Kostapo. 12. ScoutFinch - The archives show that Ms. Bruenjes of Kansas was very much involved in UGOG Gate. 13. Musing85 - Turnoff troll, complete jerk, bureaucrat, very nasty person. 14. ShaneHensinger - A radical nut and decades long student. Nicknamed, "His Royal Assness." 15. Dadanation - Reliable uprater for jerks and part of the sewage. 16. PaintyKat - A nasty turnoff troll. Condescending to the nth degree. 17. At Davefromqueens.com, we will be monitoring the comments of Kos, the Kostapo and the forces at the site that undermine the Democratic party to expose those who do us all harm. We will also be deciminating this useful information to media outlets and spreading the word where appropriate but may also decide to ignore DailyKos given that their readership and participants are dwindling by the day.
18 Things Kos Won't Tell His Readers.

1. The Obama campaign disassociated itself from him in 2006. (Source, Washington Post) Obama himself was driven away from Dailykos in 2005 by the community. 2. Markos was born in Chicago not El Salvador. He is not an immigrant. 3. Markos posted a homophobic letter in his school newspaper at Northern Illinois University on Jan. 25, 1993 which amazingly called Sam Nunn a liberal. 4. Markos said he had no feelings and "screw them" about 4 Americans killed in Iraq. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the policy on Iraq, these comments are sickening. 5. Markos calls himself anti-social and bragged publicly that he supports purges. (Source - Dailykos) 6. Markos comes from an aristocratic family in El Salvador which has been linked to right wing guerrilas and assassinations. (Source: Francis Holland) 7. Markos supports the overt racism of Laura Clawson (MissLaura) who said in sum and substance at YearlyKos 2007 that the reason why blacks don't blog is because they are poor, uneducated and can't afford computers. (Source: YearlyKos 2007) 8. Almost every Democratic candidate that has ever gone to Markos for help has lost in his or her bid for public office. This includes Jon Powers who lost a Democratic primary to an unknown who spent $100 and all 15 candidates for Congress in 2004. (Source: Wikipedia) 9. In the high points of the 2008 election, Kos only has about 10,000 active "real" weekly users for his site. This number is important b/c Kos is built on fundraising and perception and if the real number was exposed, he becomes powerless. (Source: Jotter) Remember, many of these users are multiple people with multiple sockpuppets and some are at the site to disrupt dialogue. 10. Kos said that he doesn't really care about policy and that he could get rid of the site tomorrow and no one would notice. (Source: Dailykos. See comments in my last diary) 11. Daily Kos is NOT a community moderated blog. Only Kos or designees may ban a user. All your troll ratings are probative of nothing. (Source: Scoop program itself.) 12. Markos is a turnoff troll who helps Republicans. He has managed to alienate or piss off millions of liberal and Democratic leaning voters including, but not limited to the following: A. Thousands of prominent progressive bloggers; B. Barack Obama, who denounced the site in 2006 and in 2008 and who ignored the site entirely during the 2008 election other than to criticize it in interviews. C. Politicians like Paul Hackett, who immediately became "trolls" the moment Markos disagreed with him on one issue; D. Hillary Clinton, who referred to his audience in 2007 as "oh this crowd." Kos later purged most of her voters from his site claiming that they broke the rules by engaging in flaming wars during the primary. This claim is just not true. E. Nancy Pelosi, who was officially booed at Netroots Nation 2008 at the behest of the hostess of the event; F. Reporters like Greg Palast. They seem to despise Jason Leopold too. G. Anybody who wanted to talk about impeachment; H. So called "election fraudsters" who actually advocated positions later acted upon by Barack Obama; (Bradblog smacked down Little Markos good on this front.) I. Former frontpagers who used to write for his site. J. Former employees like his initial tech wizard. K. Several hundred thousand Nader supporters (many of whom voted for Democrats in tight congressional races) who Kos unnecessarily told to "F-ck off. L. Anyone who disagrees with Kos' position on Israel. M. Activists like Cindy Sheehan who was conveniently exploited by Kos but became a troll overnight the moment she wanted to run for public office; 13. Markos defended George Wallace style states rights in a 2007 article he published for the right wing CATO institute. 14. Kos knowingly supports a Kostapo member who lost his license to practice medicine for allegedly sexually assaulting two women. When this same poster made creepy comments about a user's two daughters he was having a conflict with, Kos refused to ban him. 15. Kos backed up a Kostapo member who outed a person's real name, made references to her neighborhood, and then deliberately went after a fourteen yr old kid from Wisconsin who raised over $13,000 for Barack Obama. 16. Markos is a racist just like Laura KKKlawson, the effete snob who epitomizes every negative stereotype anyone ever had of liberals and who said in sum and substance at YearlyKos 2007 that the reason why blacks don't blog at Kos is b/c they are poor, uneducated, and can't afford computers. Prior to DailyKos, Markos once posted on listserv that he will "teach the white man when Latinos become a majority." 17. Markos actually admitted to the Washington Monthly that he is an asshole. Kos actually said, "Everybody says that I am an asshole and they're right, I am." 18. Markos was a precinct captain for Henry Hyde, yes that Henry Hyde of the youthful indiscretions.
Next we have the 27 Real Rules of DailyKos
These rules go to the heart of how the site really operates. If you are familiar with George Orwell novels, Franz Kafka's "The Trial", Stalinist Soviet style bureaucracies, right wing authoritarians, the famous Stanford Prison Experiments, the Milgram experiments, or the ruthlessness of reality TV shows like Survivor or Big Brother, then you know exactly how DailyKos now operates under Herr Markos. Here are the real rules.
1. There is no actual community moderation at DailyKos. Only Kos or designees have final say on whether a comment is permissible.
2. Nobody in the community other than Kos or designees can trigger an autoban of another user. The Scoop programs does not have this feature.
3. Any administrator has the power to ban any user for any reason or no reason at all within 30 seconds. You do not have to violate any site rules to be banned and you may violate hundreds of site rules and not be banned.
4. Outing members is an automatic ban and the morally reprehensible thing to do unless a Koshole does it in which case the administrator conveniently forgets to press that ban button.
5. The use of certain words is an automatic HR for uncivil discourse unless of course a Koshole uses said word in which case the site does not explicitly ban cursing. In said case, said comment may be uprated.
6. If you uprate a comment that uses certain words, that is an HR offense unless a Koshole does it. If you HR a Koshole who has done it, you have committed ratings abuse and may have your rating privileges taken away even though no one Hred you for it.
7. All problems are to be brought to the attention of an administrator. If your problem is with an Koshole, it will be ignored. If a Koshole has a problem with you, the problem will be acted upon as they wish. Welcome to Franz Kafka's world for if you complain about an asshole, you are scarlet lettered.
8. You may comment in any diary or thread so long as it is on topic and civil. Moreover, generally speaking you should try to avoid contact with people you are having a conflict with. Thus, if a Koshole disrupts a thread with uncivil discourse with a user they are having a conflict with, this is permissible because nobody can tell them what diaries they can and can't comment on. Likewise, if you comment civilly in a thread in response to a Koshole that you are having a conflict with, you are breaking the rules of the site and should have your ability to comment taken away.
9. You may not reveal a person's prior screen name. This is an automatic ban. However, if a Koshole does it, it is automatic that the person does not get banned.
10. Past comments of any Koshole should never be used to show the hypocrisy and dishonesty of any Koshole nor justification for a troll rating. If you do this, you are playing games and setting up false frames. This can be an HR offense in and of itself. Of course any Koshole can drudge up any past comment of yours because context always matters.
11. You may not uprate comments out of troll alley unless one of the Kosholes is in troll alley. (as has happened to Major Flaw 25+ times)
12. Anyone caught sending private emails urging others to uprate or troll rate should be banned because these people need to get a life and are manipulating the system. However, it is okay for any Koshole to do just this.
13. Anybody can post at DailyKos. Most are liberal but even conservatives are welcome so long as they are polite. But if the Kosholes don't like you, you are not allowed to post at Daily Kos no matter how polite you are.
14. Personal attacks are strongly discouraged. However, Kosholes are always allowed to engage in personal attacks. If you point out politely that an asshole is engaging in a personal attack, you are personally attacking the koshole. It is also okay for Kosholes to uprate comments that are personal attacks because any troll rating given to a Koshole was a TR with someone they were having a conflict with and thus the TR was inappropriate.
15. You may make substantive criticisms of a Democratic candidate so long as Kos agrees with this substantive criticism. Otherwise you are a troll and you may be purged from the site.
16. You may not hide posts merely for disagreeing with the commenter. This is ratings abuse. Kosholes are exempt from this rule.
17. You may not troll rate someone you are having an active fight with. However, any Koshole can do just this merely because the comment deserves a troll rating not the user.
18. You may not give positive ratings to people having fights in the comments section unless of course you are a Koshole in which case said uprates are always appropriate because someone is picking on the Koshole.
19. Only Kosholes can give retaliatory troll ratings. Anyone else who does so loses his or her ratings privileges.
20. Daily Kos is a reality based community defined only by the surreal world of the Kosholes which is anything but reality. Their purpose is to drive 95% of Democrats away from the site. They are succeeding.
21. You may not enter a diary with the primary purpose of disrupting and inciting the thread. Kos rules state that this is the key definition of a troll and that it always warrants a HR. However, any Asshole who deliberately enters a diary with the purpose to disrupt or incite should never be Hred because they have a right to comment in any diary.
22. A Koshole may always "TR for personal attack" and then engage in worse personal attacks either minutes before or minutes after.
23. If you point out that a Koshole has outed someone's real name you may be warned for "following another member around" but the Asshole will remain a member in good standing.
24. Giving HR ratings to any Koshole is an abuse of ratings privilege. They are always unjustified even if you cite the exact rule. In fact you will be given a "TR for ratings abuse" in return which of course is not retaliatory.
25. You should not give HR ratings to anyone you are in a personal conflict with. However, if a Koshole gives an HR to someone they are in conflict with, this is permissible because they were just HRing the individual comment.
26. It is always ratings abuse to HR an individual comment merely because of the user. However any Koshole who HRs such a comment may do so for he or she is Hring "in context" of the history of the user.
27. Not all viewpoints, even if shared by the majority of elected Democrats, may be discussed at DailyKos. The rule that you may discuss any issue related to Democrats so long as you do so civilly and politely does not apply in this case because it does not apply in this case.
