This site is about helping to elect more and better Democrats. This is a progressive website which includes liberals and moderates spanning from the Left to slightly right of center. This is also a reality based community. I have no tolerance in this forum for right wing crazies nor illiberal Kostapo Digital Brownshirts. Deal with facts, make logical arguments, draw reasonable inferences. Helping to elect more and better Democrats is not a monolithic set of ideas. It’s about understanding that no two people agree on all issues, that we win when Democrats stand up for ourselves on basic middle class and constitutional issues, and that we don't allow turnoff trolls to undermine our message since turnoff trolls turn independents and Democrats into Republicans. Turnoff trolls include lunatics like Media Benjamin, Markos Moulistas, and Al Sharpton.
This site has the following objectives:
1. To provide links to Democrats running for office to help raise money for these candidates.
2. To provide a forum where all important issues of the day are discussed and analyzed, solutions are offered, and talking points drafted that can be used to discuss these issues so that you can persuade others.
3. To keep tabs on right wing hate mongers, document their most egregious moments, and provide simplistic talking points that any person calling in to talk radio or appearing on TV can use when discussing such a person. We write the succinct frames, then everyone else uses them.
4. To have a forum where people can simply talk about basic everyday life and just chill. I recognize that hobbies and activities are often a great way to reach people politically and that by showing people we can spend time talking about things other than politics, then we can reach people when we do talk about politics.
5. We will do meta here. If you don’t know what this is about, hang around and you’ll learn quickly.
6. Open thread forums - As site traffic increases I will provide open thread forums. I will also consider topic-related forums as well.
